About ELI

The Engineering Ladies Initiative (ELI) is the official female empowerment and leadership organ of the University of Lagos Engineering Society (ULES). Established in 2017 to tackle the historic underrepresentation of women in engineering, ELI provides an inclusive, inspiring community for female engineering undergraduates across all departments.

Through its hallmark "ELI Week," executive mentorship circles, and technical bootcamps, the initiative connects students with trailblazing female industry leaders in energy, construction, tech, and aerospace. Additionally, ELI leads impactful secondary school outreach campaigns across Lagos State, debunking stereotypes and mentoring hundreds of young girls to pursue STEM careers, proving that female engineers are at the forefront of national infrastructure development.
